Using Docet
Docet provides scheduling, student and session records, communication workflows, billing tools, and related services for tutoring organizations. By using Docet, you agree to these terms and to use the service only for your organization's legitimate operations.
If you use Docet on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to accept these terms for that organization.
02
Accounts and organizations
You may create an account directly or through an invitation. One account may belong to multiple organizations with a different role in each. Keep your credentials private, use an accurate email address, and report suspected unauthorized access promptly.
Organization administrators are responsible for assigning appropriate roles, location access, and permissions to their team members.
03
Your content
Your organization retains ownership of the information it enters into Docet, including student records, session notes, uploaded files, and billing information. You give Docet the limited permission needed to host, process, display, and back up that information to provide and protect the service.
You are responsible for having the rights and permissions required to enter that information and for keeping it accurate. Organizations must give parents or guardians notice and obtain any legally required consent, including for AI features and voice memos, and must not record students. AI features are off until an organization owner enables them. Do not upload content that is unlawful, harmful, or unrelated to your tutoring operations.
If you receive a copyright or other takedown complaint about content uploaded to Docet, send a notice with the relevant details to support@docet.org. We do not currently have a designated agent name or postal address available; support@docet.org is the published contact for notices.
04
AI-assisted features
Docet may use approved service providers to transcribe voice memos and draft progress or retention content. AI output is an assistive draft, not a guarantee of accuracy or a substitute for professional judgment.
Parent-facing AI content is designed to require human review before it is sent. Your team remains responsible for reviewing, editing, approving, and sending any communication.
05
Payments and third parties
Docet subscriptions renew automatically each month or year at the then-current price and continue until cancelled. You can cancel anytime in Settings → Plan; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period. Subscription charges are handled through the payment method and billing terms shown when your organization subscribes. See the Refund & cancellation policy for cancellation and refund terms.
Parent payment processing may be provided through Stripe Connect and is subject to Stripe's terms, privacy policy, and the Stripe Connected Account Agreement. Docet relies on third-party infrastructure, including hosting, authentication, email, storage, payments, and AI providers. Third-party outages and terms may affect their availability.
06
Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. AI output is an assistive draft and is not a guarantee of accuracy.
07
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Docet will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or goodwill. Docet's total aggregate liability for all claims arising from or related to the service is capped at the amounts your organization paid Docet in the 12 months before the claim.
08
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Docet harmless from claims, damages, losses, and expenses arising from content you enter, your use of the service, or your failure to obtain rights or consents needed for student and family information you upload.
09
Term and termination
Either party may terminate the service relationship. On termination, the organization's access ends and the account becomes read-only in accordance with the failed-payment grace rules. Deactivated organization data is purged 90 days after deactivation, subject to legal obligations and backups. Archived leads are deleted after 365 days, lead IP hashes after 24 hours, retention scores after 180 days, and expired invitations after 7 days. Owners can permanently erase a student record from Students → student → Erase.
Cancellation and refund consequences are described in the Refund & cancellation policy.
10
Governing law and venue
These terms are governed by the laws of Delaware, United States, excluding its conflict-of-laws rules. The exclusive venue for disputes is the state and federal courts located in Delaware. Both parties waive trial by jury.
These terms do not include an arbitration or class-action-waiver clause.
11
Entire agreement and severability
These terms, the Privacy policy, the Cookie policy, and the Refund & cancellation policy form the entire agreement between you and Docet about the service and supersede prior agreements on that subject. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
12
Acceptable use
You may not:
- Use Docet to violate a law, regulation, or another person's rights.
- Attempt to bypass access controls, probe another organization's data, or disrupt the service.
- Upload malware or use the service to send deceptive, abusive, or unsolicited messages.
- Reverse engineer or resell Docet except as expressly authorized in writing.
13
Availability and changes
We work to keep Docet reliable, but the service is provided as it exists and may occasionally be unavailable for maintenance, upgrades, or events outside our control. We may change or discontinue features as the product develops.
We may update these terms when the service or applicable requirements change. If an update is material, we will provide reasonable notice. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.
